Building Plans
On this page, we share the planning process, from brainstorming to surveying to digital plans and a scale model. Please have a look and share our excitement as this dreams become a reality.

This is the view from the mountainside where we're zoned to build Hope of the Valley High School. The mountains you see in the distance are Chapman's Peak and Hout Bay, and to the right of this view lies the rest of Ocean View.

Some of our architectural partners, Christelle de Bruyn, Nathaniel Japtha and Michael P Borgström are pictured here surveying the site. The site plan (further below), prepared by Archilabs and CS Studio Architects, shows the shared vision to use natural materials from the site in the construction of the school where possible.

One of the first steps in developing the site plan was asking Grade 7 learners from the Ocean View and Masiphumelele what their dream high school would look like. We worked with them to get specifics on facilities and layout, and these concepts served as a guide for the eventual plans.

Here you can see one of the learners passionately explaining her group's interpretation of their dream high school.

Georgie Borgström from Archilabs goes over one of the learner groups' concepts, explaining how it can be adapted into an architecturally sound plan.

To the right, the additional Phases 2 to 8 of construction will continue from 2026 onwards. In addition to the Phase 1 buildings, these will include many more classrooms, as well as skills workshops, computer labs, a school hall, sports facilities and learner-support hubs.
To the left is Phase 1 of our proposed construction, planned for the year of 2025. In grey is the existing Jupiter Street Primary School, with whom we share the property. The proposed buildings in red show three classrooms (2x Gr. 8 and 1x Year 1), a bathroom block, admin space and parking.

To the right is the waiting and pick-up area, and the bathrooms are the two smaller squares at the top of the plans.
These are detailed plans for Phase 1, with the three classrooms on the left and the admin block in the main building.

Above is a 3D rendering of the Phase 1 facilities. The mural on the front of the property by the pick-up zone is a placeholder:
We want community artists to design and paint something to inspire Hope of the Valley High's learners every day.
